Amb. Lassy Chiwayo is the President, Business Development & Public Markets of SPH, responsible for generating government infrastructure business opportunities in the African Continent. Amb. Chiwayo is a successful black entrepreneur, political activist, anti-apartheid freedom fighter, and member of the African National Congress member. He served as the consul-general of South Africa to the People’s Republic of China until 2014. Amb. Chiwayo is a former political prisoner, uMkhonto weSizwe freedom fighter, former leader of the A.N.C. youth league’s national executive committee, former Member of Parliament, M.E.C. (Minister) for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture as well as former Finance for the Mpumalanga Provincial Government, a former member of the ANC PEC in the province of Mpumalanga and former mayor of Mbombela, capital of the Mpumalanga province.
Amb. Chiwayo is a Director and Shareholder of various companies and brings extensive experience and expertise within the public development and management arena to S.P.H. His experience includes, Planning, Allocating and Presiding over a budget of several billion Rands. Amb. Chiwayo’s business interests range from I.C.T., Management Consulting, Infrastructure Development and Property Development to Mining. He was a shareholder & director of Bombela Gautrain Consortium, the company that was awarded the tender to build, maintain, operate and partially finance the Gautrain rapid rail system, Bombela Consortium, as the private partner in the P.P.P. Project; and. The Gautrain Management Agency (G.M.A.); Emit General Investments; future group; Lassie Builders Constructions; among other business ventures.
